<h2>

Refurbishing "Huset"

</h2>

The "Huset" website redesign project was part of our bachelor project, where we designed and developed a completely new website for the student house at NTNU. Our goal was to deliver a website that was visually pleasing, user-friendly, and easy to navigate for both users and staff. It was also crucial that staff could update the website easily, without needing any coding knowledge. The technology stack for this project included Next.js, Strapi as the CMS, and Material UI. We developed the website using dynamic components to ensure that staff could have full control over the content. This approach allows them to create new pages, modify existing layouts, change colors, and use predefined component variants—all without touching any code. We researched design, information architecture, best practices, and usability, and went through several iterations of user testing to improve both functionality and the ease of finding information. Our focus was on making the website intuitive and engaging, encouraging more users to interact with it. One of the major new features we added was an event system, which was highly requested by users. The student house staff can now publish events separately from regular blog posts, with events prominently displayed as "upcoming events" on the homepage and on a dedicated events page. Users can also filter events by category to easily find what interests them.
